Halloweeny fun:

Haha, just kidding, mo fun for you ingrates. Anyway, my Saw review:

A Great Movie

HAHA Wasn't that great? Moving on, my mom was reading an article in the NY Times about "Rockism" which I thougt was incredibly stupid. It discussed music critics who only like music that "rocks" and are scornful of lip-synchers, pop-trash and other unsavory musical items. As she was reading this, and the writer (a woman) feebly pointed out the faults of the "Rockists" and every time I thought: 'so?'. Apparently it's now a crime to have an opinion about music that doesn't agree with the bleeding-heart liberal's skewed sense of open-mindedness. The point is, contrary to the writer's idea, that Rock 'n' Roll does remain the kingly body of music these days, and without it, I'd burn every radio I came across with disgust. People get sort of patronizing when baby boomers and gen x'ers say "they dont make music like they used to", when they don't realize that it is completely true. Thank god for bands like THE STROKES and Stalin's 'Stache; without them, music would be dead, just like TV and art already are.

As much as I hate Ashlee Simpson (who only got that job by blowing her dad or something, that nepotistic whore), you've gotta give shitty music some recognition. I mean, personally, I don't like music that's only good because of the lyrics, and I hate slow/sad songs 98% of the time.

I do enjoy classic rock, but I enjoy pretty much everything else too (save rap because it sucks even if you do give a shit about lyrics). I think aesthecits count most, and anything that makes you want to get up on a table and flail in your 4-5 inch heels is just as good as a song with depth.

Having deep, poetic lyrics is like having to chew air? What's the point? Why should you have to? If it doesn't appeal to your ear more than your brain, then it completely fails as a song and should be reconsidered as a poem.

    Love and kisses (XDDDD)

  • This isn't about deep lyrics, this is about the spirit of rock 'n' roll. Back in Black's lyrics aren't as deep as the grand canyon, but they aren't contrived. Music that makes you want to dance in heels is good dance music, but that's it.

  • I miss the music where you got screwed over and wanted to party all night long and just fuck everything parents say.

*sighs* now everyone just wants to stab someone in the eye because their girl/boyfriend cheated on them and now they cannot find a way to live anymore.

Anyhow, yes, TV isn't just as good as it use to be...it's all reality TV shows, if I wanted to watch reality I'd watch my mom clean up the house and yell at my sister...now THAT'S entertainment (and also commercial free!).
But it seems now I am obsessed with shows such as Desparate Housewives and Lost...very addicting. And the whole art being dead..well, I dunno, nowadays garbage is a form of excellent art. I can make millions just taking pictures of my room.

Anyhow, I hope to be hearing your band sooner or later.

  • Umm, this is prior to the ashlee simpson hatings. There is clear evidence that she could not perform that night and believe it or not, America WOULD rather hear her sound good than sound like a frog. So..she kind of had no choice, now "artists" HAVE to meet demands of their audience or the harsh reality is that they don't get enough money. And yeah, I know, music is not about money...but think about it, money can either run your life of just be a plus side to your life.
And by the way, Ashlee Simpson's C.D is NOT that bad...ish.

  • Actually, yeah, it is that bad-ish.
